The Hatay phase of the Science Mobilization Project developed by the Young Guru Academy (YGA) to make children love science started under the leadership of Index Group. Thanks to the Project that will enable the students in Hatay to access science sets used in big cities or private schools and to prepare for their future professions, the students in Hatay have had the necessary materials for robotics and coding education.
The introductory meeting of the "Hatay Science Mobilization" Project, realized under the leadership of Index Group and in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education of Turkey, Antakya Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Reyhanlı Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was held on May 28 at the Antakya Erol Bilecik Congress Center. The aim of the Project was announced as creating equality of opportunity in education by bringing the latest technology together with the students in Anatolian cities.
“One of the biggest educational problems in Turkey is inequality of opportunity”
Erol Bilecik said about the project: "The guarantee of a strong future for Turkey is a strong education. And we're starting a science mobilization in our city. I am in an indescribable excitement and happiness that with such a project, we will bring our students from Hatay together with science and technology. Between 2013-2018, Turkey's exports of high-tech products amounted to approximately 26 billion dollars. However, the imports in this category totaled $ 133 billion, and Turkey's trade deficit rose to $ 107 billion over the five-year period. These figures say that the most fundamental structural problem of our economy today is the lack of technology. So today we have to turn our eyes to our education system first and foremost. Because, only by means of well-educated generations, Turkey will be able to be ranked among the ”countries producing technology" not in the category of "countries consuming technology". One of the biggest educational problems in Turkey is inequality of opportunity. Our children in Hatay deserve to be introduced to science, just like their peers in the developed regions of our country.”
